The script is ready, but it uses a modified version of pano_trafo
(pano_trafo_extended) which you can only have if you compile it from
the source which I've put in the repo as well. It belongs into the
tools section, alongside pano_trafo. If you can't build from source,
you'll have to wait and see if my modifications maybe become
mainstream. The script is python, I wrote it using Python 2.6 on a
Kubuntu 10.10 system; you may have to grab the python argparse module
which, I think, isn't yet in the standard library.

If you're happy with Bruno's approach to rather remove a 'bad'
percentage, take that - it's a fine idea as well and it's already
mainstream ;-)
