No luck here in being able to get an pano output no matter what I
try. The very first time I used RC3 I did get a pano output, but all
subsequent times I have used RC1, RC3 or the official 2010.4.0
release, no luck at all no matter what I named the output file or no
matter what input files I used or where they were located.

I will try it a bit more, but I'll be back to release version
2010.2.0 if I want to be ensured of getting a pano. A bummer. I'll
let you know if I discover any workaround for this that may help to
pinpoint the problem.
