  I have been unable to find a way to work around this problem.
Deleting the 'hugin preferences' file created by a previous version
does no good.  Renaming the output file does no good either.
Actually, prior to the version 3 and 4 releases, I never had to mess
with previous 'hugin preferences' files when I installed a newer
version in order for the new version to run properly.  Some users are
reporting that they now need to delete a previous preferences file
upon installing versions 3 or 4 although I believe that issue to be
due primarily to the newly built-in default control point routine.

  I shall continue, as time allows, to fiddle with this latest
release, but for practical purposes I am back to version 2 for
reliability.
