Thanks for your reply and your offerings about how one might go about organizing pano projects. Which OS version are you using? I run 10.5.4 which worked fine for me with the various Hugin versions up until 2010.3. as I recall, which is when this "file descriptor" thing began to raise its ugly head. I have followed Harry's suggestions as to how to remedy it, but nothing is working for me. I am beginning to wonder if it is related to peculiarities of varying operating system versions.
