I'm on Windows 7 x64, 8 GB RAM with AMD Phenom II X4 at 3.4 GHz And I use Photoshop CS2 (pretty old, not 64 bit) for postprocessing.
I tried the Gimp for windows several times and found it pretty slow, but I thought that was the windows version only...
