We could certainly use faster blending. I don't think Enblend solves
Poisson's equation, but it is gradient based and is pretty slow
compared to other good blenders.

This new method would seem to be be the state-of-the-art way to do
gradient interpolation.  But we have to remember that routing the
seams is fundamental to good blending, no matter how slick the
interpolation algorithm.  The "matte extraction" part of the paper
seems very relevant to that.
