I think the grid is helpfull, but personally I think the vertical grid lines are too thick. They are not simply lines but complete bars, at least on OS X. See attached preview of a to be enfused stacked small part of the preview.
So here is for the poll: I like the grid but I prefer the vertical lines not this fat but like the horizontal ones. I'd like to here others opinion on the grid as well (Not on the photo off course).
