Has anyone else had problems with PTBatcherGUI? Whenever I use Hugin,

Hmm, you mean you close Hugin and the PTBatcher GUI window remains open?

Has been like that for ages, since PTBatcher GUI can be used without Hugin, IIRC.

Running mine on Debian Sid Linux on a machine also with an i7 processor, but only 8 gigs memory. I just make a habit of closing the batcher GUI after I'm done with Hugin and panorama processing.
