Good afternoon everyone. I'm glad I finally found a group for my hugin...
questions. For I have many.

Win7, 64b
NVidia graphics card (didn't make a difference yet but maybe relevant)

First, let me express my appreciation for the software - I have been using
Hugin on and off for years now. Around 2011 I even did more panoramic work
in it than in Photoshop, but recently I've been struggling with the
software:
Note: I need TIFF to create an HDRI for equirectangular high-bit 3D
environment map.

***Quick enquiry:*
TIFFDecode also keeps throwing "no datatype, sampletype, guessing uit16".
Any way I can fix that?

***Problem 1*:
There are about 22 tiff photographs taken with a gopro; lot of snow,
treelines in medium range. The images load normally and camera data is read
- about 3mm focal length at 5 crop factor. Clicking align always leaves out
at least one image. After I assign control points and click align again
something weird happens every time. Links will be active for about 6 months.

I noticed that I can drag images by clicking on the sphere. If I try to do
that in this case an unhandled, unknown exception message pops up. I can
ignore, abort or retry, though no change happens.

***Problem 2:*
Alignment doesn't work. Project is the same - 22 tiff files, 3 layers of
exposure, 6-7 stacks.
Stacks don't align automatically, and after putting them into groups
manually they still often form 0 new control points (CPFind nor
align_image_stack)
After assigning a few of my own control points the software still finds no
others by itself.
If project watered down to 6 images in cylindrical projection with no
stacks still no effect.
Does drag/move tab have any relevance for finding control points?

***Feature requests:*First let me say that I know how much work goes into
implementing new features. wish I could code them myself but I'm not good
at it. Regardless, most of these are things I grew frustrated with after
doing the same thing for the seventh time, and I believe that it could make
use of Hugin much easier, potentially expanding the audience. At the very
least I have not met many who know about it even though, as I said, it used
to be better than Photoshop.

*--*....Wow, what an introduction.

Either broken or use completely counterintuitive.

control point interface awkward:

everything needs RIGHT-CLICK CONTEXT MENU

lines in CP tab always set as vertical if automatic
needs system to reclassify multiple lines at same time, because often automatic
horizontal understood as vertical. Either that or system unclear on use of
horiz/vertic

zooming in/out requires too much clicking - specific mouse pointing; should be
scroll, +/-, wsad or something.
needs hotkeys to add point, vertical line, horizontal line

vert/hor lines too often break into inverted circle
TIFF input very often problematic (not guessing uint16...)
workflow unclear - everything ok when 1. 2. 3. works ok; when two-step problem
occurs everything breaks:
what does what, what influences what else (layout/move drag make difference?
manual CP no effect on automatic CPFind)
Add/remove

needs mask automatically added on click on picture in masks tab, default to
exclude, right click menu -> include if otherwise

Control point menu: left click add point, right click add line or drag image

======
Important things that I know nothing about so I don't like to point them out:

CPFind often finds nothing even after user set some basic control points. Roll
Errors when aligning - stacks adding 0 CP for shots with good coverage

Program loops, freezes, buggs out or crashes when you misalign the
simple/advanced/expert interfaces too much. Meaning you click from simple to
advanced, then in advanced you area already at simple, you work in simple but
then you try to reset advanced to simple but it doesn't work and when you try
to put simple to advanced again it crashes. Or something along these lines,
basically two windows kind of make a problem.
