Thank you, Thomas. So based on what you're saying the "Calculate Optimal Size" button inside Expert interface/Stitcher menu always gives 1:1 scaling but since there is no real benefit I will keep the 70 % scaling and just use the Assistant.
Just a suggestion: maybe it would not be a bad idea to somehow include the recommended 70 % (I know it's the default, but not for the Expert mode) downscale setting directly in the Hugin UI.
