My bass hearing response is still elevated from my head-cold & associtaed bloackages.
Last night I went to the lavatory at home ( no related 'hum' jokes please !). Immediately I entered I was overwhelmed by a huge hum. In that room only - no hum anywhere else. Transpired to be our dishwasher running 4 rooms away. Have previously experienced something similar significantly loud, localised, and in a very different location from the source with resonances from a range-hood fan, and my favourite TV-watching spot (OK a foot away either direction) has a resonance relating to our fridge compressor. I had another hum in my studio recording area the other day ( separate from the machine-tool one a few weeks ago) which transpires to be a noisy (buzzing) electrical contactor iin a room some 30m away - 4 walls and a connecting passages away. This one was And the point of this ? There are many very real hums around. LF resonances can occur from complex sounds that do not even appear likely sources when heard directly. None of these should be confused with the The Hum, which is only audible to sufferers, and not measurable. geoff --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Hum Sufferers" group.
