It's not over sensitive hearing, that's the thing, it's not sound.
It's perceived as sound, but it's not, it's something else picked up
either between the ear mechanism and the brain, or the brain itself.
Normal sound waves over ride the Hum perception and block it out. When
it's not on, it's not *heard*, when it's on, it is. Simples, and for
those who don't suffer from it yet, they'll always say it's either in
your head or tinnitus. All last night it was on, at about 4/5, a
constant MMMMMMMMM upper tone with the lower mmmmmmm coming in every
now and then.
