Dear Sue

Thank you very much for the information. With others I have made many
observations of the Hum in various types of buildings. One most interesting
case was that of an old stone built church with a high pointed lead covered
roof. On the same ground just a few yards away was a modern single level
flat roof building used as a canteen. On the same day at the same time the
Hum level inside the church was observed to be horrendous outside it fell
to a very low level and inside the canteen building it was the same as
outside. I always use a good pair of ear protectors while making such
observations as this reduces extraneous sound waves and allows one to
concentrate on the Hum proper.
