Press Release : 18th April 2011 ALLEGATIONS ON SHANTI BHUSHAN SHOW PANIC OF THE CORRUPT ELEMENTS People’s Struggle against corruption and corporate loot to intensify The recent allegations made against Senior Advocate of the Supreme Court Shri Shanti Bhushan and Advocate Shri Prashant Bhushan through a fraudulent CD anonymously circulated in the press, establishes the level of panic and consternation that has spread among the corrupt elements in the corporate and the political class, at the prospect of the Jan Lokpal Bill. The allegations made against these persons who have been fighting against the corruption spread out in the political establishment and the Judiciary for more than the last two decades, are not only laughable but constitute a well-thought out conspiracy. It is an attempt to create confusion and mistrust of the persons who are leading the struggle against corruption among the people at large. We, people’s organizations of Madhya Pradesh and Chattisgarh condemn this act of cowardice, and declare that we shall intensify our struggle against corruption. It may be noted that the Senior Advocate of the Supreme Court Shri Shanti Bhushan and Advocate Shri Prashant Bhushan have been fighting against corruption in public life for the last two decades. Shri Shanti Bhushan has fought an articulate and powerful struggle against corruption in the judiciary for the last two decades. Shri Shanti Bhushan and Shri Prashant Bhushan have also fought legal battles for the displaced persons of the Narmada valley and for communities and poor people all over India. However, the vested interests are alarmed by the recent legal battle against corruption in high places fought by Shri Prashant Bhushan in the 2G Spectrum case. Recently, because of the public anger against corruption expressed by the struggle led by Shri Anna Hazare, the Central Government had to constitute a Committee to draft a Jan Lokpal Bill. The vested interests which are involved in corruption do not want any system by which their corruption may be contained, or fettered. That is why by targeting Shri Shanti Bhushan and Shri Prashant Bhushan, the corrupt elements not only want to sabotage the entire process of drafting and bringing a Lok Pal Bill, but also want to weaken the gathering people’s struggle against corporate corruption, and the loot of natural resources. Jan Sangharsh Morcha, which is the forum of people’s organizations of Madhya Pradesh and Chattisgarh condemns this planned conspiracy in strongest possible words.
