Hi,

thank you for providing the drawing and the iconography. Interesting topic
and I wonder if somebody else knows about the Notre Dame gurdy. The drawing
looks like a kind of organistrum.

I hope to find some time browsing through my back photograph folders to
search for the Metz cathedral stone carvings. When I find them I will send a
copy.

Unfortunately most people taking photos don't seem to consider doing
closeups of all the vaults.  I have tried some overall shots in photoshop
but they pixelate before you can see the sort of detail we are looking for.

I saw the instrument you refer to and agree that it looks like the  
right style. So I looked through the St. Anne's images rather closely  
and didn't see it, but I think that the detailed images probably only  
cover about 30% of the total, so it would be easy to miss it. Still,  
it's a start.

Are there any list members in the Paris area who might want to take a  
look and see if there is a HG-like object in the St. Anne's porticos?
