Hi Michael Thinking about looking further afield, it might be worth enquiring as to whether you could do a year (or more) in an overseas university. You might be able to do an exchange with, say, a student from a UK university. Certainly worth looking into. When I was a student, there were a number of overseas students who were over in the UK on exchange years.
There are a number of universities in the UK that have music departments. Some specialise in certain areas, while others offer a wider choice. My younger son graduated last year from the University of East Anglia (UEA) in Norwich, with a degree in music. The course there was great - very wide scope for those who wanted to push the boundaries, but also suitable for those wanting to follow a more "classical" approach. Hope that helps.
