I would suggest going to Arto Wikla's string calculator at
http://www.cs.helsinki.fi/u/wikla/mus/NewScalc/
It lets you plug in different tensions, diameters, materials, and string
lengths to get a ball park figure of what string to try. For example, for
your given pitch, material, and mensur, you can get a diameter for a string
tension that seems appropriate.
