I just added a file to the Files section of the Google Group. It contains a simple arrangement of Enrique Granados' Spanish Dance No. 2 (Orientale) for HG and piano. It's for C/G gurdy and works very well over the gros bourdon and the bourdon (i.e., with low C and G drones). I might end up revising this before I perform it in May, but I thought I'd share it. The piece works very well on HG, particularly the middle, highly chromatic section, which plays really nicely agains the drones. I've also found that the g g' d'' tuning I've been working with per Simon's suggestion. The fifth in the tuning is really very nice for this piece. It even works well as a solo piece, although you lose out on the wonderful left-hand rolling motifs of the piano.
Note that for it to work you'll need a gurdy that plays reliably right up to the top of its range, as it utilizes the full two octaves and the very first note is the highest one on most instruments. The title of the file in Group is: orientale_HG_Piano.pdf Have fun. If anyone has suggestions for it for me, I'm all ears. Note that I've also posted a full piano/HG arrangement of Satie's Gnossienne No. 1 in the files section. This is much improved over the earlier versions posted in the group: satie_gnossienne1_arranged.pdf (Note that both of these are posted under a Creative Commons license, so feel free to do what you want with them. If anyone is interested in the Lilypond source files, I'm happy to provide them.) Best, -Arle -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "hurdygurdy" group.
