I had no problems carrying on an HG in a gigbag on  two flights (Albay to
Washing ton/ Washington to Amsterdam) The US leg of the trip had a much
smaller overhead compartment but the instrument did fit. On the larger
flights the over head should be no problem. The security people were quite
curious but they took me at my word that it was actually an instrument.
