Any more takers for this? So far, there are nine players signed up to be there, and it would be great to add to that number. It looks like this is going to be an annual event if there is enough interest, so I would like to hear from as many more of you as possible, even if it's only to say you can't come this year, but would like to be there next time around. There's an opportunity to do this twice a year, once during Memorial Day Weekend, and once just after Labor Day, so I need to hear from as many people as possible.
There's an added incentive - all hurdy gurdy players get a 15% discount on tuition, and there's an Early Bird Special for everyone who registers before April 1st. So step up, people, it's going to be a great time! *************** Simple Gifts is looking forward to our annual Folk College weekend at Juniata College in central PA. This event is SO MUCH FUN! I hope you'll be able to join us! FOLK COLLEGE / May 27-29, 2011 Held at Juniata College in Huntingdon, PA http://folkcollege.com Folk College is a fun and friendly weekend of playing and listening to folk music - a fantastic three days of workshops, concerts, jams, dancing and friendship. Sign up before April 1 to take advantage of "early bird" pricing. *************** >From David Gillett in Falls Church, VA; About Folk College, this is a three-day event over Memorial Day weekend. It's a general-purpose gathering (dulcimers, fiddles, accordions, guitars, banjos, etc) but I've been coordinating a group of friends and acquaintances with HGs to join me for the Weekend. So far I have gathered 8 players (and two spouses!) together, so we will be a good-sized group. I'm hoping that word will get around as a result, and generate some real interest and communication with other players here in the East. I've been working hard at setting this up, as the organizers are really interested in having us there - they have even arranged a 15% discount on tuition for us. This could be the start of a regular hurdy gurdy gathering, maybe even two, and I'll tell you why. SImple Gifts also arrange another weekend event in the Fall, it's called the Greenwood Furnace Folk Gathering, and they seem to be really interested in hosting a Greenwood Gurdy Gathering as part of it. The more people we can gather at Folk College, the better chance there is of this all happening, and we could have two regular events in the East to attract more and more players! So please try and take the three days to come join us in Huntingdon, PA - the more the merrier! Don't forget to register before April 1st to get the Early Bird discount as well!
