thats what you get for buying a french instrument, english and austrian
instruments have a warrenty on the tuning of the sympathetic strings......

but seriously, Weichselbaumer has a key that the peg slides into. I didnt get
one with my instrument so i used a small set of pliers to tune the sympathetics
till i was able to get said key.

derek

Subject: [HG-new] tuning sympathetics

The tuning peg grips are flat, as if one could grip and turn with the fingers,
but my fingers are not that strong, nor are anyone else's, I think. The pegs
are too narrow and close together to get a good grip. My husband has an idea
for making a key, but I wondered what everybody else did.

Thanks, again,
Barbara

  R. T. asked him about it and M. Boudet said it was sewing machine oil, which
I do have. Now, what do people use for tuning the sympathetic strings when fine
tuners aren't enough or when the strings need changing? At first glance, I
thought an autoharp key, but the shape is actually quite different.

  Thanks, everyone,
