To all hurdy-gurdy players in the United Kingdom the reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated.
The Otley Gurdy Gathering is still on, always has been, and will do so in the foreseeable future. Workshops are to be run by well known Ockbrook and Leeds player, Jerry Oakes who will be looking at Trompette techniques for French dance – Jerry has been an inspiration to me for many years and I am greatly looking forward to tightening up my skills. I am also please to announce a workshop with Swedish Hurdy Gurdy master, Harald Pettersson. Harald is well known in his native Sweden for his mastery of the Gurdy, and his innovative and progressive playing. I am extremely lucky to be able to offer this rare opportunity for a workshop with Harald at Otley. I have checked my answerphone and it works perfectly, as does the email and the booking form on the website: http://www.otleygurdygathering.info/ - sometimes it takes longer to answer an email than 4 days - especially over a weekend where I was co-organising a French Dance weekend and running a Marathon for a Children's Cancer Charity.
