have been 'en musette'. Is this 'folk music' ?  In the 18th cent. the trompette 
was used only to make an occasional accent or just at the beginning of a 
tambourin, in which case on the 1st of each bar or other simple repeated 
pattern. Of course if you are playing expressive music rather than dance music 
the trompette would be an intrusion. I am planning to demonstrate this in 
London  (uk) in november.  You are lucky in having a repertoire of lovely 
songs, or perhaps you are copying the gaita style?  Michael
