Greetings Red Hat Partners,

We are pleased to announce the availability of an updated Red Hat Hardware Certification Policy Guide (7.0-1) for official hardware certification purposes with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 and 7.

Please note that the updated Red Hat Hardware Certification Policy Guide (7.0-1) *is* an official update to the policy guide and supersedes all previous policy guides. The updated Policy Guide will be applied to new hardware certifications starting immediately.

The guide is available at the following locations:

https://hardware.redhat.com/doc

https://access.redhat.com/site/documentation/en-US/Red_Hat_Enterprise_Linux_Hardware_Certification/

Highlights of the updated Hardware Certification Policy Guide (7.0-1) include:

* Red Hat Enterprise Linux for Real Time has been added as a new product.

* Red Hat Storage Server certification is now available to all partners.

* PCIe SSD block storage devices have been added as a supported class of hardware. We continue to not require testing of PCIe SSD devices that do not provide block storage to the OS.

* PCIe SSD components will required to be tested for all certifications opened on July 1st 2015 or later, as mentioned in our earlier announcement on May 8, 2015, with the subject “Adding PCIe SSD block storage device support to the Red Hat Hardware Certification Program”. If you desire, component and system certifications including PCIe SSD devices may begin immediately.

* References to Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 have been removed.

* The “Converged Adapters” section of the hardware class requirements table (table 4.1) has been replaced with a Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) section.

* Links to the Red Hat Certified Hardware Catalog on the Customer Portal have been added.

* The process for purchasing membership in the program has been updated.

* The requirement for using the latest update releases of RHEL 6 and RHEL 7 when performing MRG Realtime and RHEL for Real Time certifications has been relaxed. We now allow certification using the current or previous update releases of RHEL during certification of these products.

* The new location for the document that describes the supported limits of RHEL (maximum CPUs, maximum RAM, etc.) has been included.

* Other minor bug/typo fixes.

If you encounter any problems or have any comments regarding the Red Hat Hardware Certification Policy Guide, please file bugs against the 'Red Hat Hardware Certification Program' product in Red Hat Bugzilla (https://bugzilla.redhat.com).

We value your ongoing participation in the Red Hat Enterprise Linux Hardware Certification efforts. Thank you for your continued partnership. If you have any questions or comments, please do not hesitate to contact your Partner Manager or Technical Account Manager.

Regards,

The Red Hat Hardware Certification Team
