I also experienced that when I played around with my friends RM1x.
and as you said, not very useful though... :]
 
I want to mail two "features" of the rm1x that i accidently ran into.
 
If you press one of the rm1x keyboard notes and then <oct down> the sound you'll hear is transposed two octaves.
If you press one of the rm1x keyboard notes and then <oct up> the sound you'll hear is modulated.
 
Not very useful but funny...
