greetings all...

i was a lurker on this list for a couple months a while ago,
unsubbed, and now i'm back because i seem to be continually
rethinking my studio arrangements and i'd like to ask y'all some
questions...

i come from a mac-based sequencing environment. i've never used a
hardware sequencer -- at least not as a sequencer. BUT, i keep
thinking about it lately. i keep coming back to the idea of the
rm1x, and i keep reading great things about it... i make primarily
4x4 techno, with this stuff:

ea-1
drumstation
waldorf pulse
e-mu sampler
digitech efx, dbx comp/gate, etc
mackie 1202 vlz pro

my question really is (and forgive me for being super elementary) how
do you incorporate the rm1x into a setup like this and use it as the
primary sequencer? i'm coming from this world of multi in/out
soundcards and a 4x4 midi interface, so i look at the rm1x and i'm
honestly confused as to how (with so few i/o's) you utilize it as a
studio centerpiece... esp. as i don't really have what you'd call a
'control' synth, it doesn't seem like such a great idea trying to
midi daisy chain all my stuff together. how do i use the rm1x as my
main sequencer in an environment like this? i know people do it, but
how?? thnx in advance.
