It does have to do with daisy chainin but doesn't have to.  You can chain all 
yer equipment together or you can get a midi box or patch bay.  The setup is 
basically the same, you just hook it all up and assign sounds to channels.  
Don't worry about a control keyboard either, you can use the one on the rm1x 
with a lot of ease and no hassle.  unlike the 505 or 303, you actually have a 
two octave keyboard stup like a keyboard.  this is great for the type of jams 
you said you made before, usually the bass and upper freq. sounds are pretty 
separate and you don't find need for multi-octave playability but if you did, 
you can just record part on the top, change the octave and play the bottom 
and you are all set!
