Well, you didnt say exactly what your requirements are.
It sound like you only want audio so then take a look at:
Sonic Foundry Vegas http://www.sonicfoundry.com
or SEK'D Samplitude http://www.sekd.com/
These are both available as demos.
Samplitude is probably not as intuitive or efficient as
Vegas, but it does have more features and limited midi
support.
If you do need midi + audio then you'll have to take a look
at any of the main sequencers, Cakewalk, Cubase or Logic.
IMHO the choice between these is really down to personal
preference, and for x number of people who advise you to use
one, you'll find another x people who'll swear by another :)
