Hi all,
got a few more questions on moving patters from cakewalk to the rm1x.
Ill ask them outright, with details below...
1)has anyone had a problem loading up midi format 1 songs from cakewalk as
a pattern? a 16 measure song gets loaded up as 110 measures (in pattern
mode). midi format 0 doesnt have this problem.
2) can the midi channels per part be assigned on a per style basis? some
songs I want the first thee tracks to go to 1 peice of gear, other songs I
might want them to go to other peices of gear.
-------------------------------------------
1)
this one is kind of interesting... I have the basic framework for one song
in cakewalk. I still use it to statically design sonns, then pull out
loops to move to the rm1x.
I want to use midi format 1 files, so that I can have several parts point
to one midi channel.
so, I save a format 1 song consisting of 6 tracks each 16 measures long.
I load that up in pattern mode (pattern, disk, load). typically I then
have to adjust the midi channels manually, and make sure that no parts are
set to "phrase".
now, when I go to the main pattern screen, my pattern length is 110
measures long. I edit the data and no track has any data past measure 16,
but if I move the cursor to the ==end== line, it jumps to measure 110.
if I set the pattern length to 16 and hit play, it plays fine, hits
measure 16, loops to 1, but all the sounds stop.
I then went to phrase mode (pattern, pattern) and saw that everyone of my
userphrases (created when I loaded the midi file) had the lightning bolt
icon next to them (meaning that the phrase is larger than the pattern
length). I ajusted the pattern length until the lightning bolts went
away. that happened at 110 measures.
I was able to fix this, but doing a job-split phrase. I discarded
everything from measure 17 on, for all the phrases in my pattern.
then when I hit play it looped correctly. so somewhere, either cakewalk is
inserting something at measure 110 (although neither edit views in the
rm1x or in cakewalk see it), or the rm1x is reading some bad data, setting
the lenth to 110.
im just wondering if there is an easier work around, or if anyone else has
had this problem.
thanks
