Hi all,
I'm trying to install Familiar in a hx4700, following the howto at
http://www.handhelds.org/moin/moin.cgi/HpIpaqHx4700HowtoInstallLinux
but I'm encountering problems from the very beginning.
The tutorial says:
"Enter the HP Maintenance screen by holding Addressbook and iTask,
then pushing the reset button at the bottom of the device. The screen
you arrive to should say "v1.01" and have an "hp" logo. However, the
screen is not backlit, so it may be difficult to see. "
---> In fact, mine says '1.10' and the screen IS backlit. Is it a
problem?
"Sit the device in the USB cradle and plug the USB cable into a
computer system's USB port. At this point, a "USB" should appear at
the top of the screen of the iPAQ device, replacing "SERIAL". On the
computer system (or at least *nix derivatives), there should also now
appear a device at /dev/ttyUSB0"
---> When I do that, I don't see any "USB" or "SERIAL" in the screen.
But a /dev/ttyUSB0 appears. Any further attempts to communicate with
minicom have failed. (it only says
CLIENTCLIENTCLIENTCLIENT and nothing appears as I type)
I'm pretty new to all this stuff, so forgive me if any of this
questions are too obvious...
Thanks in advance,
Luis P.

The screen should look quite similar to

(Sorry about the poor quality, I had to scan the display.)

(Sorry, forgot to actually send it to the mailing list ;) )
