Michael, I think your English is good enough. Why don't you go ahead and try to help with the manual? The hard part is getting all the technical stuff in one place... and there's only about 6 people on earth who know that stuff. In contrast, there's millions of people who can correct grammar and check spelling. I'm a native English speaker... so I can help there. Also, my friend the technical writer (his name is Bryan) is interested in helping out. He's a native English speaker, has written equipment manuals for years, and has LOTS of experience correcting the English of the Indians he had to work with. ...And your English is much better than that. :-) Besides, keep me on my toes.
