Yes, sounds good. People could upload and share songs, drumkits, patterns via their own repos or as gists. Also, according to OONI probe [1] the web page is accessible in all countries.

But this still raises the question about how we maintain/moderate the discussion. Anyway, I think it's at least worth trying.

Off topic:
I'm not quite sure if it's a good idea in general to put discussions on such centralized platform hosting F(L)OSS code. If we would organize the fifth international or plan a coup against whatsoever, would github.com be blocked by certain ISPs? Will there by moderation by the Github team itself by assuring compliance to EU regulations? And maybe not so off topic: are we accountable for copyright violations due to content posted there?

All the best,

Phil

This sounds great to me.

Any new forum system is going to require people to make an account. Making that account a github one will reduce friction between discussion and encouraging people to contribute in other ways too (code, translations, docs, testing, QA....)

(Just my tuppence worth!)

    Hi everyone,

as you all know our forum is gone since some years, since no one
    could
be found who was willing to host, maintain and moderate it. Since
    today,
there is the possibility to enable a feature called "Discussions" on
    Github (example:
    https://github.com/githubevents/universe2020/discussions). It looks
quite clean and won't have all the features of our old forum (and
    user
will to sign up at github), but it might be a chance to get a
    little bit
more feedback then just via the Github issues. What do you think?
    Should
we enable that feature for Hydrogen?

    Best regards,
    Sebastian
