Hi!

the "Discussions" feature is now activated on Github, see https://github.com/hydrogen-music/hydrogen/discussions. I have created some categories for OS-specific discussions, just as a start. If anyone has requests for a specific
category, just mention it.

In addition, i'm going to make a post on our website which advertises the new "forum".

Yes, sounds good. People could upload and share songs, drumkits,
patterns via their own repos or as gists. Also, according to OONI
probe [1] the web page is accessible in all countries.

But this still raises the question about how we maintain/moderate the
discussion. Anyway, I think it's at least worth trying.

I suppose we should wait and see. Our largest issue for moderation with
the old forum were spam bots, and the occasional person sharing copyrighted
material.

Off topic:
I'm not quite sure if it's a good idea in general to put discussions
on such centralized platform hosting F(L)OSS code. If we would
organize the fifth international or plan a coup against whatsoever,
would github.com be blocked by certain ISPs? Will there by moderation
by the Github team itself by assuring compliance to EU regulations?
And maybe not so off topic: are we accountable for copyright
violations due to content posted there?

I suppose we are accountable for such violations, but i'm not a
lawyer.

In general, i also would prefer to have an indepent, self hosted
platform for the disucussion board. But we had the before, and problems
arise if the one who maintains that platform leaves the project. With
the old forum, it was quite some work to install security updates and just
keep the software going :-/ This is why i would favour a solution where
we don't have to maintain the software on our own and where we have a flexible
access/permission management.

Best regards,
Sebastian
