Jack is the preferred way. Jack is a sound server not a driver. Think of it like this: Alsa drives the soundcard and jack serves or manages alsa. This allows you to route sound from one place to another and run multiple sound applications at one time. I recommend using qjackctl http://qjackctl.sourceforge.net/. Its a front-end to jack and makes life simple.. You should use apt-get install qjackctl to install on your lenny. This is my configuration for my lenovo t61 internal intel sound card. http://jasonschaefer.com/stuff/SetupJACKAudioConnectionKit_intel_hda.png I can go lower with the frames/period if I need less latency but I risk getting overruns that cause sound loss/glitches. So I play it safe.. btw, you should look into ardour for your production work, its worth learning.. apt-get install ardour2 cheers! jason ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Got Input?
