Hello All

For several days I have been trying to get chinese(mainland GB2312 zh_CN)
to come up in an xterm, but am not having any luck. I have the past i18n
messages and have been searching through them, and have been looking
at the glibc locale info stuff and so on. What I have working is
emacs will handle chinese no problem, on a 'cxterm' I can display
chinese, and 'pine' within this 'cxterm' will display also display chinese.
Also 'vi(vim)' within this 'cxterm' displays chinese correctly.
   If I try something like:

   localedef -i zh_CN -f localedef -i zh_CN
   export LANG=zh_CN.EUC-CN
   xterm -u8 -fn hanzigb24st

I'll get an xterm come up where the cursor is obviously outlining
the text, but the text is blank. I don't really want to set the
locale to china, but would rather have a local environment that
would display chinese correctly, but whatever is needed
I wonder if someone could post to the list some 'cut and pasters'
that should work on a stock x-window system. I'm running
   linux-2.4.18
   glibc-2.2.5
   xwindows 4.20

   Thanks
   Bruce
