And, on the OTHER other hand, I've certainly seen authors who said "just
tell me what it needs to say, to clear your Discuss".

Happily, I've seen less of that with recent IESGs, but it's still something
we need to watch for. If the AD knew what the document should say better
than the authors, the wrong person is the author ...
