If you have been to North Dakota, chances are you just drove through the state
on the interstate and did not take the time to find out what the state has to
offer.

You might have even stayed in North Dakota hotels without taking the time to do
much else. That's OK, because this article will help you plan a trip to North
Dakota so you can experience everything the state has to offer!

Hopefully you will be able to plan a vacation to the state sometime soon
whether you live nearby or whether you are traveling from a big city or hoping
to visit all 50 states, North Dakota has something for everyone.

Here are just a few of the top places to travel in North Dakota:
1. Fargo, North Dakota

Fargo is the state's largest city. Because of this, there is a lot going on.
There are many options for hotels in Fargo no matter what you plan to do in the
city of about 150,000.

Just some of the attractions include the Plains Art Museum, Fargo Air Museum,
Red River Zoo, Redhawks baseball, North Dakota State University sports, Fargo
Theatre, concerts, parks, West Acres Shopping Center and restaurants.

The Plains Art Museum in Fargo is located downtown and has a permanent gallery
of art ranging from Native American artwork to contemporary work. It also
features temporary exhibits throughout the year.

2. Bismarck, North Dakota

This city is the state's capitol. The Missouri River runs through Bismarck and
the state capitol building is the city's tallest building. Shopping and dining
are plentiful in this city.

Attractions in Bismarck include Belle Mehus Auditorium, Fort Clark, Governor's
Mansion State Historic Site and Sitting Bull burial site.

The Belle Mehus Auditorium is located downtown near the capitol building.
Theater and ensemble events take place in this building. It is home to the
Bismarck-Mandan Symphony Orchestra.

3. International Peace Garden

The Peace Garden location is covered with flowers, water fountains and paths.
It is located along the border of Canada and the United States.

The gardens hold some of the remains from the World Trade Center. Hiking is
available throughout the peace gardens. Birds, deer and moose are common in or
near the gardens.

4. Minot, North Dakota

Minot is the location of the yearly state fair. The Roosevelt Zoo is also
located in Minot, which is a small town with a lot going on. Activities and
attractions include multiple golf courses, museums and restaurants.

5. Dickinson, North Dakota

Dickinson is a good destination because it is not too far from Theodore
Roosevelt National Park. Dickinson is also home to the Dinosaur Park, which
includes replicas of multiple dinosaurs.

Teddy Roosevelt State Park is home to the North Dakota badlands. The park is
full of trails and camping spots for serious backpackers or those who prefer to
drive up to their camping spot.

If you are driving from the eastern part of the state to the western part of
the state, make sure to check out the Enchanted Highway. This highway shows off
metal sculptures along a stretch of 32 miles.

No matter what your reasons are for traveling to North Dakota at any time of
the year, there is something for everyone!
