------------------ ARTICLE START ------------------

There's no doubt about it that article marketing is one of the best, yet often
overlooked, methods of internet marketing promotion. It is partly overlooked
because of the fear that many people have - putting pen to paper and writing
quality articles for publication.

Effective internet marketing promotion is critical for any small business.
Despite peoples fears writing articles is not hard if you stick to some basic
principles. The four basic 'rules' below will help you get started. Where to
start? Well, rule number one:

1) Put pen to paper!
While this may seem too simplistic, if you are fearful or procrastinate about
starting your article, just start writing about your business. Do not worry
about worry about your title, your ending, even your exact topic. Simply start
writing the words that come into your head and would like to tell people about.
What is your business about? What service or product do you offer? How do you
market your product? Imagine you are talking to your best friend and trying to
explain to him/her what you do. The detail of your article and what your
internet marketing promotion will look like is not important at this stage.
Just get started.

2) Add structure to your article
When you have written about 300-400 words walk away! This sounds strange but
your mind can play tricks with you if you analyse your article too much at the
start. A day later look at your article again. Read through your article slowly
and start to think about your structure. Does it have a clear topic? Is there a
logical start and ending? Are sentences too long?

Generally, apply the KISS principle, keep it sentences and words short and
simple. Your internet marketing promotion efforts will be much better for it!
Get a friend or colleague to read through your article and relate back to you
what they think the article is about and how useful they think it is. Ask them
to be honest! Keep your article relevant interesting.

By now your topic and title should be clear, so....

3) Grab your audience attention with a great headline.
Do not try to sum up your whole article in your headline. Your headline could
be a question, a command, a list or an abstract sentence such as "The
Breakthrough That Saw My Business Boom". At the very least you need to think of
your headline as a way to attract attention - a reason for someone to continue
reading.

4) Remember your articles purpose
The reason for your article is internet marketing promotion. But what exactly
are you promoting? What is the purpose of the article? It is easy to stray from
the original purpose of why you started the article in the first place as your
article takes shape. Do not forget your purpose and end your article with some
kind of call to action. This may simply applying your resource box at the end
of your article with a link to your website. If it is, make sure the content of
your article relates to the content of your website. Sounds obvious, but it is
amazing how many articles appear unrelated to the links at the foot of the
article.

Finally, while keyword research is an important element of internet marketing
promotion through article marketing, when you start I would recommend just
writing and sticking to some basic principles. When you develop your skills
further and are more confident with your writing then look into keyword
research.
