As you, are aware of because you yourself have probably done at least once in your own life. People make stupid mistakes usually when they are younger or out of desperation. These mistakes should not follow a person or haunt a person for the rest of his or her life. It is not suppose to matter and once you have paid your debt you are suppose to be free and clear from this mistake for good. However, this is not the case recently; I was, made aware of a young man with a wife and two-step sons who is falling victim to just such a case in his life. When he was younger, he did get into the wrong crowd and made bad choices the result of those choices was three felonies and several years of correctional detention in a state facility. Now this young man lost his job when our recession began and everywhere he has put in for employment has turned him down because of the past mistakes. This is not fair, or just it is just flat our wrong. As is my understanding the businesses, where this young man has applied should not even look at the felonies on the man's record. Because of the fact, the felonies happened over seven years ago and the young man had no parole. When he was, let out, he was free and clear. He though however, he has been blatantly told they cannot hire him because of his record. This is over fifty places of potential employment so far and the number continues to grow daily as he continues to apply in his small town. This young man has a disabled wife and two-step sons to try to provide a living. He even found a small part time job and told the employers of his record when he was hired, the employers hired him knowingly then let him go after some bogus excuses that they made a mistake and should not have hired him. The fact is this is wrong and the employers or potential employers should not be, allowed to treat people in this manner. This young man has done his time, his debt is, paid over, and over again. When will the prejudice ever end and people stop looking down on those who are less than perfect. Please the next time a person with a record from his or her past comes in and applies for a position. Give them a chance instead of looking at their past mistakes. Irsan's passion is to write on wide varieties of subjects.
