Whenever you are asked by a sister, a cousin or a friend to be her maid of
honor, as the title suggests, it is regarded as an honor due to the fact that
such role is the most important part you will ever play in a wedding ceremony.
There are overwhelming maid of honor duties and tasks that you must accomplish
before and during the wedding. One of the main maid of honor responsibilities
is to make sure that the wedding ceremony and reception will go as smoothly as
possible for both the bride and the groom.

The maid of honor is essentially the person held responsible for directing and
guiding the bridesmaids while extending a trusted and strong shoulder for the
bride-to-be whenever she needs extra support during the whole process of the
wedding preparations. Before the long-awaited wedding day, the maid of honor
must check numerous details regularly, and the most reliable and important maid
of honor duties are; to unconditionally lend an ear to the bride and to run
important errands for the couple for some pre-wedding obligations that they
tend to forget due to the numerous things that they are have to think of before
their most awaited event.

Considered as one of the primary maid of honor duties is to attend bridal
showers as well as cake shopping and cake exhibits, or assist the bride's
family members and relatives in searching for the ideal location for the
wedding ceremony and reception. You will also be tasked to go along on shopping
trips for the bride and sponsor's gowns and dresses. But be sure that you
accomplish the shopping assignments at an earlier period to provide enough time
in case there will be necessary alterations with regard to the wedding gowns
and dresses.

Extending help for ordering and purchasing decorations, flowers, and for hiring
caterers and wedding staff and helping the wedding planner with the seating and
table arrangements of guests on the reception is a very nice gesture that you
can willingly offer. The busy couple may also ask for some help in assembling
and addressing all wedding invites to their guests.

Moreover, it is also expected, as one of the maid of honor duties to plan,
manage and host the most important pre-wedding celebration among marrying
women, which is the bridal shower. You are also expected to attend and help out
in entertaining all guests during rehearsal dinner and should always be ready
to extend a helping hand to the guests whenever it is needed.

Creating a comprehensive checklist of all the necessary things that you should
keep in mind during the planning process will certainly make your life and the
bride's schedule much easier and efficient.

During the wedding ceremony and reception, make sure that the bride arrives on
time at the location which has been set-up and organized. Assist her with her
train and veil and always see to it that her dress stays clean. The maid of
honor is expected to hold the bride's bouquet during the exchange of vows.

On the wedding reception, besides dancing with the best man and entertaining
the couple's guests, included in the list of maid of honor duties is to ensure
that the bride has been served food.

Finally, and probably the most important task of a maid of honor, is to provide
and offer moral support and help whenever she is needed by her bride.
