I checked the Red Rock dam area this morning and again in the late afternoon. Hightlights were:
1 Glaucous Gull -- young bird of undetermined age in flight from the lake ice roost headed downstream over the dam 1 Great Blue Heron -- looking very out of place standing in the gull roost on the lake ice 2 Red-breasted Mergansers -- 1 below the dam, 1 in the larger remaining hole 5 Gadwall 1 American Black Duck 1 American Coot I also had 32 pheasants around Neal Smith NWR--the only sizable concentration I have seen in quite awhile.
