Hi All,
Reid and I took the pretty (long) way to see my Mom in Bettendorf and stopped by the Croton Unit of Shimek Forest this a.m. The Bewick's Wren was scolding on the north side of the junkyard. At the parking lot at the Croton Unit was one vocal Yellow-breasted Chat (along with a million -- or so it seemed -- gnats and mosquitos)!!! We then drove up 150th St. (or Ave. -- can't remember which) off of Belfast Rd. This is the first road west of the parking lot at the Croton Unit that only goes north. Along this road were the following: Red-shouldered Hawk, Louisiana Waterthrush, Mourning Warbler, Cerrulean Warbler, Northern Parula, and Yellow-throated Warbler. Noticeably absent were any House Wrens!!! We also did not find any White-eyed Vireos.
