My cousin Mark Proescholdt and I took a leisurely drive to NW Iowa yesterday
and were fortunate to locate the Say's Phoebe in the previously mentioned area
just across the road South from the Freda Haffner Preserve.  We saw it a couple
of different times on the lower power line just to the east of the gravel and
sand piles.  It was easily viewable from the parking lot at the preserve.  We
were also able to see a Blue Grosbeak (perhaps more than 1) several times.  We
ran into Lee Schoenewe and the Armstrongs just as we were getting there who had
just seen it.  Later Dennis and Belva Hendricksen also were able to view both
as well.  A nice drive to my favorite part of the state and 2 life birds from
one spot!
