What a gorgeous day to be out! Loren and Babs Padelford joined me for
several hours of searching for the Parasitic Jaeger. It either decided 16
days in Council Bluffs was long enough or it managed to stay out of sight
while we scanned. A nice consolation prize was a pretty little juvenile
Sabine's Gull which entertained us all the time we were there. The lake was
fairly quiet except for small groups of Franklin's and Ring-billed Gulls
plus we had the first Herring of the season. An occasional Pied-billed
Grebe or Ruddy Duck occasionally popped into view and there were still
decent numbers of both Tree and Barn Swallows as well as Chimney Swifts
overhead.
