At Errington Marsh in Polk County, we found several Le Conte and at
least one Nelson's Sparrow. There were numerous candidates, but most
hid in the tall grasses. We parked in the northwest corner lot and
walked around the nearest water, a little southeast of that parking
lot. This is the field east of the shooting range.
Then we went to Snake Creek Marsh (Greene County) and parked in the west
parking lot along Highway P46. Walking about 250 yards east from there,
at a fork in the field road, we found a very cooperative Le Conte's
Sparrow, and 50 yards further to the left, one very cooperative Nelson's
Sparrow. There were other candidates as well in that area. Harris,
White-throated, Swamp, Song, Lincoln, and Savannah Sparrows were
abundant in the several piles of cut trees.
