On Saturday the Grammer Grove hawk-watch tallied 150+ raptors. I had to leave
at 3:00 and missed about half of those, which came between 3 and 6 p.m. For the
day, the hawk watch totaled 8 raptor species, which included 3 falcon species.
It was much quieter for the short time I visited there early this afternoon.
Only a handful of raptors went by on this not-so-windy day. Raptors included
Bald Eagles and Sharpies. I had to leave at 1:30 today so not sure what the
final tally was.
Yesterday the birds were moving high and fast, today much lower and lazier,
providing better looks today (but fewer birds).
At Errington Marsh in Polk County earlier this morning, both LeConte's and
Nelson Sparrows were very cooperative!
