Nice conditions at HNCH both days-- I'm thinking that Wednesday may be the
better day-- we'll see.
Several days of count data haven't made it through the pipeline and are yet to
post to HMANA's Hawkcount database. (Ryan took a well-earned little break from
the tower). I know that we had some notable stuff though on the" missing" days
from e-mails on the watch's internal impromptu listserve-- a 176 bird kettle
of Swainson's Hawks on Saturday and a Red-shouldered Hawk yesterday. I'll post
fuller reports on the "missing" days when the data gets posted. We're working
on the documentation for the flyby Lewis' Woodpecker on Sunday, and we'll be
forwarding it to the Records Committee after comparing notes on who saw what.
We stand at around 7,500 raptors for the season so far-- a very good pace if we
can sustain it. We are only at around 700 Red-tails so far ( so I think that we
can sustain it).
