Hi all, We are hoping for help! We have a duck on the lake we can not narrow down and Identify. Very Dark Large Duck (21-27")white patch front breast from the neck down. The slope of the head and the dark beak makes us wonder if it is an Imm. Common Eider, Female White winged Scooter, or Female Surf Scooter. We havent seen it open its wings so that doesnt help. It has been eating like crazy. It has been here since yesterday about 4 PM. IA DNR has looked but it was in the shade and we dont have that good of a spotting scope. I will post again if the mystery duck is still around or if we can Id it. Anyone in the area please help! Thanks, Lora Schwendinger Cass County Naturalist office # 712-769-2372
