An adult Lesser Black-backed Gull was lounging with other gulls on the dock in front of the Dry Dock Lounge at Smith's Bay on West Lake Okoboji this morning.
Two immature/female Black Scoters were diving together off Crandall's Beach on Spirit Lake, and four Eared Grebes and seven Horned Grebes were found altogether on Spirit Lake. A stop at Emerson Bay on West Lake Okoboji on the way home revealed seven Common Loons from one vantage point and a late Osprey flew by in the mild fall weather. With pheasant season opening today it was a good day to work the big water in Dickinson county. Lee A.
