Jerry Toll, from the Hitchcock Nature Center, will give a presentation at our Ames Big Bluestem Audubon meeting next Thursday, January 20th. The meeting begins at 7 PM, with the presentation starting around 7:25 PM. The meeting will be held at the 4-H Building on the ISU campus.

Hitchcock Nature center is famous for its Hawk Watch program. About 4 years ago, a raptor banding project was also initiated. Then a night time banding project was started in 2009. Migratory Saw Whet Owls are one of the key species being banded at night and much is being learned about this secretive species. Jerry will discuss the banding effort, how the banding is completed and what is being learned from the project. He will discuss population trends and other information being gleaned from the data collected.

Visitors are welcome!
